The mandarin is another member of the citrus family. Small and tender, it is excellent for making marmalade. Like the citron and the pomelo, the mandarin is considered a "pure" species, while the other citrus fruits are fruits of various botanical crossings.
Thanks to its high vitamin C content and high energy intake, it is an ideal fruit for the sportsman's diet, but it should be consumed in smaller quantities than other citrus fruits, since, being very sweet, it contains - by its nature - a greater quantity of fructose.
