Bussana Vecchia
town of the artists
Bussana Vecchia, also known as the town of artists, is a unique destination if you are staying in Diano Marina. It is a fraction of Sanremo, known for the presence of many artists, which have made it a particularly visited place by art enthusiasts.
Its artistic history began in the '60, when a group of artists moved back into this area, which had almost been abandoned since 1887, when a violent earthquake occurred. The ghost town was then reborn from its ashes, thanks to a ceramic artist from Turin, Clizia, who moved his workshop to the abandoned town, founding a colony of artists from all over Europe.
Even today, smal workshops and ateliers can be found in almost every street, and tourists love it: an art studio in open air!
