As already mentioned, olive oil is one of the region's typical products. Many olive groves can be seen on the hills, which characterise the hinterland to the west.
The most common olive type is the taggiasca, appreciated for its sweet but firm taste; in Liguria olive trees have been planted for centuries in what are known as "fasce" or terracings, which cover the hills on the seaside.
In Liguria it is possible to visit many oil mills, to discover the production process of oil, or you can visit the oil museums. There are many: you just have to choose... and do not forget to buy some of our locally produced extra-virgin olive oil, after tasting it.
